Glassing Monkey Backs Clash of the Groms for 2020

Thursday, 20 February 2020

The Clash of the Groms Junior Tour returns for 2020 with new backing from sponsors Glassing Monkey. The series will feature four events throughout the year, all taking place at the iconic home of British surfing, Fistral Beach. Each event will attract the best young surfers from across the UK to compete in up to eight divisions.

The tour aims to promote progressive surfing and develop our young British talent with the Judging criteria focusing on quality of manoeuvres. The scoring will differ slightly from traditional surf events by seeing the best two waves with the highest scoring wave doubled.

Dave Reed Director of UKPSA said “I would like to thank Glassing Monkey UK for supporting the development of British surfing talent. With surfing this year being included in the Olympics our focus is on developing the future athletes in the sport.”

Jack Hughes from Glassing Monkey UK said “Opening in Newquay gives us a great opportunity to be a part of the UKPSA and the Clash of the Groms Series. We are excited and privileged to be a part of such an important stage in a young surfer’s journey. We are looking forward to seeing what 2020 will bring for British surfing heading into a new era of competitive surfing.”
