|Volunteers and surfers honoured at UKPSA Awards
We are so proud and happy to see some of the young people who have been involved in the Wave Project standing on the podium of the annual UK Pro Surf Awards – holding an award in their hands! The UK Pro Surf Association Event took place at the Carnmarth Hotel, Newquay, on 20 November. The Awards celebrate individuals who have contributed to the UK surf scene.
Jay Jon Darbyshire, from Brighton was named Disabled Surfer of the Year, and Thomas MacSporran, from Dalkeith, who won the Wave Project Courage award.
Teenager Dan Hobbs, from Falmouth, swooped the award for Young Volunteer of the Year for his work with The Wave Project. Dan, 14, from Falmouth, became a volunteer with the charity having been referred as a client in 2015.
Hannah Cornish, from Bridgend, won the award for Volunteer of the Year for her work on the Wave Project in Wales, while Scottish surf school Coast 2 Coast, based in Dunbar, won the accolade for Surf School of the Year.
Well done guys – don’t stop doing what you do!
