For the second year in a row, the two highest ranking surfers on the UKPSA Pro Surf Tour will be given wildcard entries to the 2018 Boardmasters WSL QS event this summer. As it stands, that will be Jo Dennison from North Wales and Jay Quinn from Newquay.
Jo Dennison, Head Coach at Surf Snowdonia, decided to get back on the Pro Surf Tour this year after a long break from competitive surfing. “It’s great to be a part of the British surf scene again. Even when it’s not my heat, I’m watching all the amazing surfing going down from all the categories.” Said Jo in an interview earlier this year, clearly stoked to be back on the tour. Jo’s win at the Surfaced Pro immediately catapulted her to the top of the rankings and set the foundations for a great year.
Originally born in New Zealand and now British resident, European champ Jay Quinn has now set his sights on victory on the UK Pro Surf Tour. He too had a stellar start to the year at Watergate Bay, showing clear mastery of the challenging conditions.
The Boardmasters Surf Festival is a WSL QS1000 event and attracts professional surfers from all over the world, it takes place between 8-12 August. We will be following all the British athletes competing. Stay tuned to ukprosurf.com and all our social channels for updates.
